With Italian restaurants in abundance it is sometimes difficult to choose. Because Italian food is always a good idea and choice overload never is, I listed my favourite Italian restaurants in Rotterdam North.

La Pizza

Bentinckplein 1 | La Pizza was already a household name in the Scheepsvaartkwartier, but since a few years it also became a prominent hotspot for Italian aficionados in Rotterdam Blijdorp. This is where you’ll find crazy good antipasti and simple, but all the more tasty, pizzas made in a traditional wood oven. After one glance at the menu, you’ll see choosing is not an option and it’s best to loosen your pants.

Osteria Liz

Berkelselaan 2A | In Italy it’s common to visit an Osteria; a small eatery where you can eat simple but tasty dishes and where hospitality is key. This Osteria in Rotterdam Liskwartier is named after the ever so stylish 50’s icon Liz Taylor, which sounds quite promising! At Osteria Liz you’re at the right place for simple dishes that are excellent for sharing, of course with just the right amount of elegance.

Angelo Betti

Schiekade 6B | The one place we could not miss in this list is Angelo Betti, the classic of all classics. The authenticity of this place can’t go unnoticed and every meal feels like an Italian party. At Angelo Betti you go to eat pizza, unspoiled and without much frills, but still damn good! Don’t eat until you’re full because they also excel at scooping real Italian gelato!

Tosca

1e Pijnackerstraat 120B | At Tosca in the Old North you’re not just at the right place for the Italian cuisine, but the entire Mediterranean passes the menu. No worries, because there are many Italian classics on the menu, such as vitello tonnato and gnocchi, but mostly with a little twist and alsways seasonal. With a menu like this, a great ambiance and a their location it always feels a bit like holiday at Tosca!

Speck

1e Pijnackerstraat 134A | On some long and tiring days only the thought of cooking a meal is already a big punishment. Often the solution is to order greasy and food at your local cafeteria. Luckily we can visit Speck, Tosca’s little sister, for a tastier alternative. At Speck you can order take-away, but instead of fast food you’ll come home with delicious Italian pizza, antipasti and oven baked dishes. All made with the finest first-class Italian ingredients!

La Cabane de Fabian

Bergweg 152A | La Cabane de Fabian is a jack-of-all-trades and a hidden gem in the Old North. The grocery store slash lunchroom slash restaurant is all about quality, which is noticeable in everything, from the products to the menu. The Mediterranean is well represented and it’s the perfect spot to get some tasty delicacies, sandwiches and delicious meals. The Italian dishes are my favourite, but they make it hard for me to choose!
