Behind Brouwerij 't IJ you can find bar restaurant De Kop van Oost. The terrace at the front has a unique view over the water and the only windmill in Amsterdam. Here in East, on the edge of the center, you can spend the entire day in the sun. De Kop van Oost should certainly be included on your terrace list this summer!
We took a look at the old factory building that has been transformed by designer Rein Rambaldo from De Horeca Fabriek into a beautifully spacious restaurant. We found the mauve colored walls and cobalt blue chairs to combine beautifully with the marble tables and the imposing glass bar in the middle of the restaurant. We sat down on the velvet chairs and let ourselves be surprised by the menu!

Until recently you could enjoy the tastiest schnitzels and weizen beers at the same location at pop-up restaurant Schnitzel & Weizen. After the renovation of the warehouse you can now go to De Kop van Oost for a French menu with a modern twist. The menu was created by chef Nick Holter. You can choose from a menu or à la carte, including smoked beef or beet carpaccio, a classic preparation of the steak tartare with crispy chicken skin or a selection of cheeses from Fromagerie Kef.

A great deal of care has also been devoted to the beverage menu, so you have a selection of specialty beers and certainly don't forget the cocktails! :D Lunch is possible on weekends and during the week from Tuesday. We also came for lunch and ordered a 'classic' Flammkuchen with bacon and Gruyere cheese and a Poke Toast with salmon and avocado. A very good choice if we say so ourselves! Together with some cappuccino's ice had a good time with the beautiful interior and the beautiful view.

De Kop van OostAfter you have enjoyed the food and drinks you can even go to the neighbors, Mooie Boules. The funny thing is that both venues share the same toilets, so you can literally go to the neighbors from the inside when you walk past the toilet. Also check our review of Mooie Boules!

De Kop van OostWith a beautiful interior, unique view from the terrace and delicious snacks and drinks, Kop van Oost is definitely an asset in Amsterdam East! Whether you come for a drink, lunch or dinner, it will certainly be a successful outing and you can also go to the neighbors for a game of boules! What more do you want? :)
