An Amsterdam restaurant where you can eat real Dutch dishes? Where can you find it? Well we have discovered the best Dutch Eatery in Amsterdam; we are talking about Persijn here!
Let's start with how easy it is to reach Persijn. Persijn is less than five minutes away from the Ring and they have their own parking spaces. With Parkbee we therefore reserved a cheap spot and ended up in the restaurant with the elevatorof this garage! If you live in Amsterdam, it is of course very easy to reach by bike or public transport! 

Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed. Our coats were taken and with a ticket we were able to pick them up later. We were there early so we had plenty of time to take a look at the restaurant. The interior is inspired by the Dutch grain fields. Bright green, different shades of brown and gold in combination with wood and leather give a warm and familiar feeling. In addition, our host said that the neighborhood, the Amstelkwartier, is in full development and promises to grow into Europe's most sustainable neighborhood in the coming years. And the Persijn team is also working hard on that!

After a delicious cocktail we are invited by Matthias, the gardener, to go to the roof. They grow their own vegetables, herbs, fruit and fish in a unique greenhouse! They work here with the latest technology and can work as sustainably as possible. It looks really fantastic with all the beautiful colors of the fresh products and it is also extremely sustainable and healthy to get your dishes on your plate so quickly!


Back down we could not wait for dinner! We started with a seasonal salad with ingredients from, The Greenhouse, their beautiful greenhouse. The flowers in the salad were actually too pretty to eat, but tasted too good not to! The next dish was waterzooi. The catch of the day with mussels and shrimp. A delicious dish and for this Persijn only uses local products. After two delicious dishes the biggest surprise came for us; Endive stew! Served with veal cheek and bacon. Normally I am not a very big fan of stew, but this taste sensation was really fantastic! Finally a delicious dessert of apple with crumbs, caramel and our evening slowly came to an end.

We talked about this great experience. The drive that this team has to deal with our planet with love and the passion to serve delicious and honest dishes. Persijn puts Dutch Cuisine on the map and we enjoyed it immensely!
