The future is plant-based and delicious. Since 2018, Happy Food & Health Rotterdam has been serving up plant-based and gluten-free food, and since early 2025, they’ve been doing so from their beautiful new, bigger, two-floor location on Katendrecht.
Set in a stunning building with high windows and a sunny terrace overlooking the Maashaven, this feel-good hotspot is part coffee bar, part dining spot and part cocktail lounge — ideal for brunch with friends, a laid-back lunch, a satisfying dinner or simply coffee and cake with a view.
And the best part? You don’t have to check the fine print. While the main kitchen is still completely gluten-free, they now offer a few gluten-containing options too — made in a separate kitchen with no risk of cross-contamination. They’re also the only spot in Rotterdam officially allied with the Dutch Coeliac Association (NCV), which says a lot. So if you’re vegan, lactose- or gluten-intolerant, you can order freely and stress-free.
From fluffy homemade burgers and loaded fries to colourful curries, tacos, dumplings, fresh salads and hearty bowls — everything is made in-house with love. And don’t forget to save room for dessert. The cakes and sweets here are legendary: chewy snickerdoodles, creamy cheesecakes, hot brownies and vegan high tea platters. Pair it with a cocktail or a smoothie and you’ve got yourself a treat.
